Road bike tires typically require 80 to 130 psi mountain bike tires 30 to 50 psi kids bikes 20 to 40 psi and hybrid bike tires 50 to 70 psi. For instance on a road bike a 200 pound rider should add 20 more psi than a 165 pound rider. Mountain bike tire pressure that is too high will make for poor contact with the ground and a less controllable ride while mountain bike tire pressure that is too low will make your tires behave unpredictably and will make them susceptible to pinch flats. And transmit less feedback at a given pressure.
